Thanksgiving Thoughts

Psalm 118:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His mercy endures forever.”

I love the word “mercy.” It gives me a warm feeling inside. Mercy is a gift that has more to do with the giver than the recipient of that gift. Often it involves forgiveness; someone has wronged us or we have wronged someone else. Mercy leads us to forgiveness.

Mercy is God leading us to the cross where mercy and justice intersect. His love compelled him to take our death sentence on himself to satisfy his justice.

He offers us forgiveness, and that’s the best reason we have to be thankful. Give thanks to God and enjoy his mercy, his love, and all his good gifts this Thanksgiving.
